Basking Moonlight of Sorrow
By Ashraf Hamed Junior
8/10/10

It started out as a feeling…then turn into a song
The world asleep this very night, and all you can do is hum.

The world is awake this very night, and this feeling turned into a…word
What can I do to stay awake this very night and feeling like basking into water

As I swim through moon rivers night all I can think of is that word…
That word that could change everything in our world
A word that could stop all the hunger
An utterance that could stop all the war
A sound that could stop the entire world, spinning this very night as I bask into the light

The world is awake this very morning
I guess I should drift away, and that word that could change the entire world can wait…
Till again, tonight when I forget everything that happened this very night and sing it out again
Over and over this song is much more familiar than anything I hoped to think.

I basked into moonlights sorrows tonight
And I am not afraid what can happen next
All I can do is fade away into my sleep and sing this over and over again
Until I am far away from the poor, hungry, and the whole war over in the East
I just hope when this song is finally written, everything that I wished for in…
Moonlights Sorrows River would come to pass…

Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the lord my soul to keep
If I should die before I wake, I know my Nanny's heart would break
I finally did it!! A song :P I wrote a song. I hope you like it. I can't really describe the song, well because its just my whole thoughts together, if you have any suggestions, on which to put a word or line in. Comment or send me a note. I'll have my friend put it on the piano, and I'll hope to sing it and record it :) So you all can see. I am not a bad singer. I was a tenor for 4 years in high school. I made it to the top choir in my senior year, i could of made it a year ahead, but i thought i should move up. But whatever. lol.

I dedicate this song to four people that believe in me
1. My mother, Carole Hamed Thank you mom
2. My best girlfriend, Nicola
3. My Nanny, who still believes in me.
4. My choir teacher Mr. Taylor. I know I wasn't in class long in my last two years, but Mr. Taylor was always there with a comforting smile and a "Welcome Back" :rose: :rose:

Thank you all

~Ash

this is interesting and pretty - but just incase you're unaware the first line is virtually identical to the lyrics in the song 'The Call' by Regina Spektor, and the second line is pretty similar too. Might be worth trying to alter these a little to break away from the similarity.
